Takes 11 weeks to age

1 quart inexpensive vodka
4 sweet navel oranges

1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Make the simple syrup by combining water and sugar in a saucepan and heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Cool completely.

Wash the oranges and slice them into four. Pour vodka into a jar, add simple syrup, and add the oranges. Label and date. Store in a cool, dark place. Shake once a day for 2-3 weeks. Strain in a fine mesh sieve. Return to the jar and allow to mature in a cool, dark place for another 6 weeks. The recipe ages for a total of 11 weeks.
